rosacea beauty tips?

Anonymous
I have had rosacea for about a year now, i hate that by the end of the day one cheek has a perfectly bright red circle. I just completed 3 IPL treatments with minimal results. Is there a cream that will reduce the redness? I've tried clinique redness solutions and it did nothing for me. I'm not a big makeup wearer, but i guess i need to start. I hate rosacea!

I think that laser is the best bet but even with the treatments, it takes a few weeks for your skin to look its best. Where did you go?
My former derm used to carry this and it did help somehttp://www.amazon.com/Neocutis-Peche-Redness-Control-Cream/dp/B005IDY19U Much cheaper on amazon.
Lastly, I was using Aveeno calming moisturizer but switched to Target brand Aveeno and it really seems to be better for my skin and I don't seem to flush as much. I wonder if there was something in the Aveeno that had been irritating my skin all these years. Good Luck!

this is OP, thanks for your feedback. I haved moved out of the DC area so my derm is not local. I am just a little nervous about doing more IPL, the last one caused me to blister. I don't want to make things worse. Maybe i will try that cream. Thanks!

Finacea works wonders, pricey script, twice a day application.

I've been using Finacea for about 10 years now and it keeps the redness at bay. In fact, no one knows I have rosacea. I've been lucky enough to get away with using Finacea only once a day, so a prescription (for me) lasts a long time. Was IPL the first thing your derm recommended? Did s/he not prescribe medication as a first course of action? I never tried IPL, but my derm didn't think I would benefit from it. Look for a dermatologist who is focused on medicine and not beauty.

I see the dermatologists at Hopkins and they are recommending something called a pulse dye laser - not sure if that is different from the intense pulsed light laser (which has also been recommended to me in the past).

Have tried neither yet as mine is very mild, but will probably do laser this fall.

I also use metrogel.

PP poster here. I used MetroGel for years before they came out with Finacea, and I believe Finacea works better (and there is no odor or staining). It's not the "preferred" medication according to most insurance companies, but I prefer it over MetroGel.

I have not tried any kind of laser therapy, but please let us know how the pulse dye laser works!

I use a foundation from LancĂ´me that I love. Light but it covers.

this is OP, I also use Finacea and Oracea-as needed. They work okay but i still notice one of my cheeks has a red circle by the evening. Maybe i am not so good at avoiding my triggers? My derm didn't suggest IPL, i was the one that really wanted to try it- i was hoping it would remove the reddness for awhile.

This may work for you. I've used it for two years now, but not sure about the severity of your problem. Mine was pretty mild and it's basically gone. You have to use the whole regimen, it's the layering of the products that does the trick. https://digoe.myrandf.com/Shop/Soothe

Honestly, the thing that helped me the most was giving up dairy entirely. I still have a little redness but it is mild and easily covered with loose powder. A year ago I was in tears because of my skin...6 months ago I did some research and decided to give it a try and there was a dramatic difference within a week.

I also use Finacea and it works really well for me. I have to use it regularly and I'm very gentle with my skin. Skin with rosacea can't handle abrasive treatment.

I'm very surprised to hear your dermatologist started you out with IPL. Why did you not start with a medication?

Instead of IPL try V-beam - much more effective. I also use a topical prescription medication daily (forgot the name, but I'm sure your dermatologist would know). Also, taking care of food allergies, if you have any, would really help.
