Benjamin Moore paint? Is it really that much better?

Anonymous
I'm having my master bath painted. There is an Ace in my neighborhood. Benjamin Moore is a haul. How is the Clark and Kensington paint from Ace? Will I regret going using it?

I would use BM over Ace stuff -- particularly for a bathroom. Kitchen and bathroom paint is different from regular paint to stand moisture and the like.

Alternatively, Ace should have Permawhite, which is a quality bathroom paint, of comparable quality to BM kitchen and bath paint. You can have the permawhite tinted. You'd need to decide eggshell or satin. For a bathroom i'd probably go satin (and eggshell for a kitchen). But eggshell for a bathroom will be OK.

Consumer Reports rated Clark and Kensington highly.

personally we have been happiest with Behr..tried Benjamin Moore and didn't see what the fuss was about. We've been painting rooms in houses for 15+ years and they still look good with Behr.

at your expensive cocktail parties you can make claim to bm because that's the only way anybody would know

Our handyman hates BM. Says it takes too many coats for decent coverage. He likes Sherwin Williams.

We just repainted with BM and used 1/2 of what we'd normally use. It's fantastic.

It's better but there are lots of others that are fine. Duron is bad.

I really like the Clark Kensington. Just painted my dining room with it today.

Sherwin Williams has been great for us- we have just painted 11 rooms. I'd previously used Behr and it works well but it's nice being able to call the store, have the guy carry the paint to your car, have them know your name.

You get what you pay for.

This Spring I tried Mythic paint in a pinch (had planned to pick up BM and found them CLOSED on an early afternoon.), and liked it better.

Just used Behr and wow! Very impressed. One coat was enough.

My husband cursed the entire time he painted with BM and won't let me buy it again. It didn't cover well, and it was expensive. I don't get the fuss but people on these boards love it.

That's because he gets a huge discount there.
