After years of crippling foot pain, I went to a new podiatrist who discovered that in addition to the lovely bunions gracing both of my feet, I also have an issue with both 1st metatarsal bones being higher than the rest of their neighbors. This means my toes are jamming and according to the podiatrist, will lead to arthritis. This probably explains why that part of my foot is so tender and painful.
He recommends surgery to fix the bunions (he said at this point, the surgery wouldn't be terribly invasive and debilitating) and to lower the metatarsals. Has anyone had similar issues, and if so, can you tell me about your experiences? |
