I've practiced yoga sporadically over the years, and recently did a 10 month vinyasa flow class that was wonderful for flexibility and strength. But I don't have access to that class any longer, and it's been eight months. Looking for a relaxed class/studio atmosphere, in Maryland burbs or NW DC.
Allay yoga in Kensington is low-key and friendly. Try a class with Pam or Marisa.
Simon Says Yoga in Sangamore Rd shopping center- it is the place for the over 50 crowd. You won't find little yoga bunnies, just some frumpy Bethesda ladies like me!
LOVE Willow Street Yoga in Takoma Park and Silver Spring. The instructors are great about making adjustments so you get the most out of every pose. Try classes during the free week (start of each session) to see which instructor you like best.
Check your closest fitness center too, sometimes they have beginner yoga classes
Circle Yoga in CC DC.

I second Simon Says Yoga in Bethesda (but not down town Bethesda), off Sangamore Rd.. Plenty of parking, plenty of older folks and beginners, not judgemental.
Also in the same shopping center as a Safeway and Starbucks, convenient for multi-tasking trips : ) |
Susan the owner of Opus yoga in the kentlands works well with everyone, incuding those who are older or who have injuries etc. i have only taken her classes. She has great skills and experience, is adept at suggesting modifications and has a lovely personality.
Unity Woods has "gentle" yoga, although they switch the instructors around and I haven't tried all of them. They have a couple locations that might be convenient.

Lil Omm in Tenleytown. They even have a curvy yoga class.
Blue Heron in Silver Spring.
