How do you find in home daycares in D.C.?

I'm 23 weeks preggo and worried about child care for my little one. I can work on stalling child care with the help of my mother through next summer, but the baby will need to go somewhere in August when she's 9 months old. How do you find in home daycare? How do you know if the provider is good? The prices at regular daycares are scary and a nanny share would be ideal, but I'd like to keep my options open in case we can't work something out with someone. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!
