| Bloomberg had a video today about Axiom law. Anyone have any experience with this company/firm/temp agency? |
| Have a friend that works there, took awhile for them to get staffed on a contract. You get an annual salary but you're only paid when you're working (i.e. if $120K salary but only work 10 months you only make $100K). I believe you still get benefits even if you're not working but I'm not sure how much (if at all) they pay an employer contribution towards health insurance. |
| I signed up with them a few months ago as I transition from SAHM, but still have not been placed. We get benefits from my husbands job, so that's not a worry. |
| They pay towards health insurance, but you only get benefits when you actually start working. Heard it takes a while to get started. |
Exactly how long did it take your friend to get staffed? |
| Actually was just starting to look into axiom because I'm waiting for the ax to drop at my firm. Any day now and feeling very vulnerable so trying to be proactive. Having a hard time getting real info, and seems like even here people don't know much about it. What's with the veil of secrecy?! |
I reached out to them when I lost my biglaw job and they were pretty picky about new hires. |
How so? |
I think it was three months or so. |
Didn't even want to consider your resume unless they had already heard of you; as in, don't call us, we'll call you. Then again, this was a few years ago. |
| Is it a placement service or a law firm? |
| My brotheri was hired by them and they were very enthusiastic. That was a few months ago but they still haven't placed him or given him a timeline either. In the meantime he's not yet eligible for benefits. Very opaque. He's been actively looking for other options in the meantime. |
| Not a law firm for sure. Like a placement agency for highly qualified lawyers whose careers got off track because of the economy. |
| I don't get it. It's a temp agency or a placement agency or some new creation? |
it's a new model for legal services. basically so a company doesn't have to pay as much money to their traditional firms. i heard one of the founders speak at a conference. interesting model. the audience was primarly general counsels and they were definitely intrigued. i am not a lawyer, btw. |
