I don't know if this the best place to post, but can anyone share experience with their return to fertility after exclusive breastfeeding and prolonged cycles? I still nurse once every 2-3 days, so not much, and I'm charting but it's not clear whether I'm ovulating. I have a small thermal shift but not a big enough one to have 95% confidence in whether I actually ovulated and my mucus pattern is all over the place. I'm now on day 50 of my cycle - negative preg test results but high temps. How long should I wait before going to the Dr? I was thinking if still no period by day 60 and still negative PTs, then I'd go in for blood work to see if I'm pregnant but just not getting a positive test? My other postpartum cycles have been 32-48 days long.
How long have you had your cycles back? I would go to the dr now some they've been averaging 32-48 days. Are you trying to get pregnant? If so you can medicine to jump start your cycle. Maybe that's what you need.

I've had them for the past 6 months but have only had 4 periods. The upcoming coming one, if it does come, would be the 5th. We're 'open' but not actively trying, just not actively avoiding. We'll probably start really trying in the fall if it doesn't happen before then.
Do you recommend seeing a Dr now because you think something could be wrong? |
I wish I could help but I'm in the same boat. I weaned completely a few months ago and have had two long cycles since with no signs of ovulation on OPKs. Please post an update if you do end up speaking to someone about the issue.
You are probably having an annovulatory cycle. Talk to your OB and ask for Provera. If your hpt is negative then you are prob not pregnant.
OP update - now on day 52, starting to have heightened sense of smell and food aversions, need to eat more frequently to keep my energy levels up, headaches, lounging feels like heaven . . . waiting until the weekend to take another PT. If it's still negative I'll schedule an appointment for day 60.
