My son has been going to a round of birthday parties in Bethesda -- goody bags still exist for 11-year-olds, mainly filled with crap candy.
I'm throwing a party for my son with a lot of guests and just don't want to do the crap candy goody bag thing. Any other ideas? I'd think this would stop by now. |
| I skipped them for DD (11) this year. One girl asked about them. Oh well. I told DD she was too old for them. |
| "Favors" for attending a party never ends. Isn't this the same as baby showers and weddings? |

You can do school supplies (Pencils, sharpners) and snack bags - goldfish, fruit rollups, chips etc.

My 11 year old would be fine with no bag but would think it odd to get pencils and goldfish. Heck, we didn't even do cake for his 11th birthday, he requested glazed donuts. |
| We gave away hula hoops instead. About the same price and much more fun. |
I like you. Would you like to be friends? |
I would be happy to not receive baby shower favors and wedding favors! |

| They can stop whenever, or contnue for ever. |

Your kid is eleven. If he wants to do goody bags, he should have to do them.
I think 11 is a little old |
| No age is too young. |
| I went to a shower once where instead of stupid favors they handed out little cards saying they had donated to a charity instead |
| If you don't want to give goody bags, then don't. Some kids will probably ask but who cares. Personally I think 11 is old for a huge birthday party, but that's just my opinion and obviously you feel differently. So likewise, to each his own when deciding whether to give goody bags. |
