Average class size of 12 to 14 students. 106 faculty members; 1/3 have taught at Maret for more than 10 years; 68% of faculty hold advanced degrees (masters and doctorates). Average faculty tenure is 10 years; 6 of our faculty have been at Maret more than 20 years. 5 Maret alums are faculty members. Advanced placement and college level courses offered in every discipline. Students can create an independent study course with a teacher. Seventh and eighth grade math is taught in gender split classes. Service learning is incorporated throughout the curriculum for all grade levels. 35% of students identify as a student of color. 42 countries are represented among the student body. 19% of students receive financial aid grants. Annual lower, middle, and upper school drama productions. Intensive Study Week in February allows students and faculty to explore in depth a subject of interest together in small groups. Each fifth through twelfth grader has a faculty advisor. Foreign language instruction begins in kindergarten; Chinese is offered in high school. Teachers teach many different ages and across grade levels. Physical education classes for kindergarten through sixth grade; interscholastic athletics for seventh through twelfth grade. Located within a 10 minute walk of the Woodley Park Metro. Approximately 58% of students live in D.C., 33% in MD, 9% in VA. 7.5-acre historic campus completely renovated as of 2005, including an enlarged all season artificial turf field. Recipient of a $2 million grant from the Malone Family Foundation for financial aid endowment for gifted and talented students. |
