Le Diplomat is very good but I recommend reservations, not overly fancy but very nice and good food.

Le diplomat
Rice

We live there and my faces are le diplomat (but you need reservations), birch and barley or churchkey (depending on how low key you like, as churchkey is low key but still pretty great) and Estadio.
Ghibellina is always very busy when I walk by, so worth checking out the menu online.

Rice is terrible.

I love Pearl Dive, but is it too casual? Does not accept reservations.

The Pig is good if you like pork, ha. Also very casual.

All good suggestions so far but might be tough to get a reservation - I'd add Cork too. On short notice, Posto might be good.

Does it need to be romantic, or just fun and good?

Hanoi House

Proof

Does Proof have a second location? The one I know is in Gallery Place, nowhere near Logan Circle. Maybe you're thinking of Cork, or, a little way away on 11th St., Vinoteca?

My vote is for Estadio. Or if you like sushi, Sushi Taro. A short walk, but worth it.

Oh, you're right. What I meant was Policy... another "P" word.

Bistro La Bonne is good too.

I'm the OP: We ended up going to Rice and really enjoyed it. It was crowded and a little loud, but not in a bad way. The food was great and the service down to earth and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
