Going into the next grade

Anonymous
My child attended kindergarten in MCPS. I have a few questions. I don't have to fill out anything saying my child will attend first grade at the same school, do I? Is it just automatic? What forms do I need to feel out for first grade? Do I need to do a new emergency form? A new health inventory? Anything else? I saw the supply list online so I have that. I assume we need to do a physical? Am i missing anything else? Thanks all.

You don't have to do anything. The school will send home any paperwork it needs filled out.

Our school sent a firm home in May or June asking if our child would be returning in the fall.

What if I never received this form?

It's not a registration form. The school asks you to fill it out so they can estimate class size and plan for the following year. Don't worry about it. You don't have to do Anything at all. Really.

Once you're registered, you are registered. You'll get some paperwork to fill out the first week of school for their records.

The only paperwork you may need is proof of a physical/check up with the pediatrician and possibly an updated dental check up form. Not sure what MoCo's rule is.

Why wouldn't you be asking the school these questions?

Probably because I already did and the person who picked up the phone said they are not sure and to call back in August. Thanks for being useful and trying to be a jerk.

MoCo does not require this after initial enrollment. Really, OP, you're fine. Nothing to do except show up on day one with you supplies.

No need to do anything. Just get the supplies that the school suggested.

1st few weeks of school - the school will send you any forms that you may need to update with emergency info etc. The PTA sends membership info, the cafeteria sends in the lunch money/pin info. etc. etc,

Once you are in Kindergarten - your kid is registered in MCPS till he/she graduates. You really don't have to do anything. Your kid will not be removed from the school if you have not filled in a form.

Hardly any schools require annual enrollment or such.

I've never been asked for any info from dr after the initial enrollment. Your school will assume you are coming back unless they hear otherwise.
