| Both my preschoolers love edamame at restaurants - I've only seen them frozen in stores and never fresh - do those come out like the restaurant version? |
| Yep. Pop them in the microwave and add some salt. Taste the same. |
| The frozen ones turn out fine. |
|
1. Remove bag from freezer and cut it open.
2. Pour into bowl. 3. Microwave. 4. Let cool a bit before serving. Salt's optional. |
| There are soy bean farms surrounding my family in Ohio. Other than the fact that it would be stealing, could I pick a few beans and steam them and they'd be the same thing? |
Yes, but don't steal them. Get permission to pick and offer to pay. |
| You can also steam them or put them in boiling water for a few minutes. My kids love these too. |
I think soy is like corn, grown for both humans and livestock. Some varieties may taste better than others. |
+1. The bag was purchased from Trader Joes. |
| I always have a bag of frozen shelled edamame in the freezer. They cook very quickly in boiling water and having them frozen helps with portion needs. I put them in soup and pasta. |
| I bet the restaurant is microwaving frozen ones too. |
| I'm growing them in my garden this year, so far they are doing great! |
| I love boiling mine with a bit of soy sauce and sugar. Then I add sea salt or Kosher salt to them. YUM!! |
LOL. there are no fresh ones widely available. Your beloved restaurant uses frozen ones too. |
| We buy frozen bags of edamame from Costco. Pop the bag in the microwave for 4 minutes, open bag, dump in bowl, add salt. Delicious! Neither me or my kids can taste the difference from restaurants! |
