Kids brunch @ Jakes

Anonymous
Just ate for the first time at the kids brunch in the basement of Jakes in DC. Seriously, this place is fantastic for those with young children. They had toys, games and an awesome helper there just to play with the kids/ do arts & crafts. For the first time in 2 years we had a sane meal. I highly recommend. Food is a little pricey but it was worth it.
Not at all affiliated with them, in fact was leery of going since I had a bad/slow experience at their upstairs restaurant but really the kids brunch is a gem if you've got a wiggly toddler and friends who want to eat out.

Thx for posting good to know. Does it feel claustrophobic in the basement? Is it also super kid friendly for lunch and dinner or just brunch? And do they have brunch on both Saturday and Sunday? By the way, how was the food?

Thanks for posting. The food/menu always looked terrible and the basement reminded me of a college bar.

OP here. It's totally a college basement but very clean. They have literally toys everywhere, arts & crafts section (a long table) and kids shows on every tv ( there are TVs everywhere). It's both Saturday and Sunday and they open -at 10 which is key with small ones. The food was good (I had burger (very good!) DH had salad DS had grilled cheese.). I really liked the food but just seemed a dollar or two over priced. That said since it was actually a relaxing meal, I'd pay that price again.

The teacher was the best though. Very engaged with our 2 year old and kept him entertained.
