Twins at 40?

Has anyone ever gotten a faint positive 6dp3dt using an early detection test (first response) and ended up with a single pregnancy, or is a positive result this early pretty much a guarantee of multiples?

Yes, I have a perilously low beta and had a line at 5dp5dt. Giving doubling times, that would have given me a positive a day earlier with a normal beta. I also know quite a few people with faint positives on day 9 and only one little one. Congrats either way!

Thanks for your response, PP. It really helps to ease my mind. I will definitely be thinking of you and hoping for a good outcome for you.

This is nowhere close to a guarantee of multiples (what??) it is quite common to get BFP at 9 dpo, and yes, I had it. It is actually more likely to be a lingering trigger ( if you didn't test it out) than twins though both are still relatively unlikely.

Don't overreact. Highly unlikely to be twins, unless you transferred two or more.

The only guarantee of multiples is seeing two heartbeats at the ultrasound.

I mean, seriously? You get a faint positive and your title is "twins at 40?". I am surprised you didn't go to the older kids forum and asked whether there are discounts for two tuitions. Talk about jumping the gun.

Lingering trigger is definitely more likely here than twins.

Here are the stats for the equivalent of 6dp3dt. As you can see, its not at all unusual (much less guarantee of twins) to get a BFP at that stage.

You can confirm by asking for an ultrasound at in 10-14 days. The sac are visible.

Yes, but she had a trigger shot 8 days ago. Trigger stays in your system for 10 days. I would wait a few days and retest. And I would not worry about twins.

Maybe she tested it out. My trigger is usually gone after a week.

Yep - twice and both singletons

I would be more worried that it was a trigger left in my system and that I wasn't actually pregnant than thinking twins. She might have tested out on the trigger though.

Did you transfer more than one OP?

At 6dp3dt, she's 11 days past trigger. Unlikely it's still in her system.
