Experience with Dr. Luciano Belizan (OB/GYN surgery)

So found out that one possible reason for infertility is a fluid-filled fallopian tube. Fertility MD recommends have that tube tied prior to trying IVF, since cells from fluid can flow into uterus and compromise implantation. Has anyone had experience with this problem? Dr. Belizan was recommended. Am trying to figure out what to expect. any insight appreciated.

If I were you, I would go see another fertility specialist from another fertility clinic to get a second opinion as to whether or not the surgery is really necessary or if there is another less invasive option. It might be that the surgery can be avoided. Before getting such major surgery, I would get a second opinion.

Dr. Belizan is a magnificent doctor. I have heard that he has done multiple surgeries on an outpatient basis because he is very good. I was an infertility patient and spent several thousands of dollars trying to get pregnant for over 3 years and after only 2 visits and 1 surgery with Dr. Belizan I was pregnant 4 months afterwards. I will tell you honesty, he is incredible. He is professional, courteous and very wise.

OP here. Dr. Belizan performed surgery to remove defective tube. am now starting IVF. My experience was the same as yours---he was great to deal with---very courteous, very responsive, and was willing to spend a lot of time going over the results of the surgery, answering questions, etc. I would highly recommend him also.

Dr. Belizan is amazing!
He delivered both my children who are now 16 and 14. He is compassionate, and takes time with his patients. he is highly respected and has received many awards in his field. When I was in PA, I was scheduled for tumor removal by cutting me open and looking at 6 week bed rest. I moved back to MD and got a second opinion with Dr. Belizan and he was able to do it by Laparoscopy saving me weeks of pain and bed rest. He couldn't believe they wanted to cut me open. I'm so glad I'm back in MD and close to Dr. B.

My daughter wouldn't be here if it weren't for Dr. Belizan. A previous Dr. told me I had cysts on outside of my overies. I was in alot of pain and was recomended by a friend to get a second opinion with Dr. B. Come to find out my overies were impacted with cysts and were the size of my uteris! He also determined that I have endometriosis. After my surgery I was pregnant within 6 months. Now that I am finished having children I had Dr.B perform a tubial on me. During that surgery he found uterine pollups and took care of it. He is amazing!!!!!

best kept secret in DC area. Recently was recommended to him after going to John Hopkins and Sloane kettering. He took great care of me and was able to remove my tumor using a non invasive methodology which was far less traumatic than any of the other options. My family is eternally grateful.

I have known Dr. Belizan for about 30 years as I was a patient of his before my daughter and son (ages 27 and 25 years, respectively)were born. He is THE MOST COMPASSIONATE DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET. He is a gifted surgeon and truly cares about each and every patient that he has. I took a friend to him because she had 3 large cysts and he rmoved them while keeping her intact in case she wanted to have another child where other doctors wanted to do a hysterectomy. It's a shame that all doctors can't be a Dr. Belizan.

If you are a patient of Dr. B's you are in good hands and will never have to doubt anything that he tells you..he is the best.

Dr. Belizan is an amazing doctor and wonderful to work with. He is very honest, and encouraging as well.

The only problem is their front desk receptionist...she is terrible. It's hard to get through on the phone, or even to get basic questions answered. Be prepared to wait on hold forever...

Dr Belizan is great, but his staff has become increasingly incompetent. Better staff have left or cut back hours and inferior people have replaced them. I think Dr. B has begun edging toward retirement and has asked his staff to take on more burden than they are able to handle, and it has severely impacted the quality of care from the practice as a whole. If you have any problems post-surgically, you will have an uphill battle against the idiots who guard the proverbial castle door.
