| Believe it or not, I've never had one. I know different states have different policies. If I'm in MD do I need to buy one in MD? |
| No, you can get one anywhere. We live in Maryland and ours is from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Google to research fees for each state/jurisdiction - some charge a monthly fee even if you don't use it very much, and others don't. |
| Nope, I live in MD and got mine from MA. Very happy. |
I also have one from MA. There is no fee to have an account through MA, while MD does charge a fee. |
|
Mine is through DE. Pay $25 for the transponder, and no fee.
You do have to be smart enough to choose which state you want to buy in when you go to the EZPass website (I say this because my brother has been 'unable' to purchase one for years because he can't figure out that he has to choose the state he wants to buy in, not his home state.) |
For years? Oh my. Help him out! |
| We live in DC and my husband just drove over to VA to get ours. He said the fee was lower than in MD. |
Another MD resident with a MA EZ Pass. Dr. Gridlock did a column on the different state EZ Pass "offerings" a few months ago and recommended MA because there are no fees. |
|
Go to Giant and get one. It isn't that hard.
|
| DC resident with a MA one. Do not want to pay monthly fees when we only use it on road trips once or twice a year. |
|
We got ours at the local Giant in Maryland. Cost is $34 - $9 for the transponder and $25 is credit for tolls. We used ours an hour after buying it. You have a week to register it online -- all very quick and easy.
