Mosby Woods AAP Level IV

Anonymous
Any input into the school, the student body and the AAP program? I hear they have more AAP Classes than non-AAP classes? Is this true? Are there so few kids in the school's area that can make this happen?

I looked at the school online (great schools and other sites) and it has historically had impressive rankings (even before becoming a Level IV Center school).

Any input would be appreciated. (By the way my child's home school is Daniels Run by way of comparison).

As I recall this past year there were 3 gen. ed. and 4 aap (3rd), 3 gen. ed, 3 aap (4th), 3 gen. ed, 2 aap (5th), 3 gen. ed, 2 aap (6th).

Mosby Woods is our home school, and all of our kids are in the AAP center. Mosby Woods has a great PTA, a wide variety of after school activities, and excellent teachers. Dr. Aste, our Principal, is really good.

We have been really pleased with Mosby Woods. The AAP center is great. When our oldest was in 3rd grade AAP, we had Ms. Gulino and Ms. Cote. Last year, the school added another AAP teacher to 3rd grade - due to the numbers - I can't remember her name, but our neighbor's daughter had her and did well. Honestly, Dr. Aste only hires the best teachers. I can't say the same for other schools, but this is true for Mosby Woods. And, before you think that I am just cheerleading, know that I tend to be a very involved (helicopterish) parent and don't offer many high fives, in general.

Good luck with your decision!

11:30 - My daughter was just accepted into Level IV and her center school will be Mosby Woods. We are actually in the market for a home in the area. Most of the homes I have seen in are in older areas with no kids. Any suggestions?

we're open to a TH or a single family so anywhere from $400K to $800K.
Ideally looking for a SF, however.

We, too, live in the Mosby Woods area. There isn't a whole lot on the market, though. And what is, sells fast. We've been here for 15 years. In our relatively small TH community, we have 9 kids. And this a tiny community. Edgelea Woods is close by, it's older SFHs with a ton of kids. Prices are 500 - 700K. Alternatively, there is Edgemoore (off of Edgelea Road). These are stucco SFHs and are above 800K. Country Creek is older THs, always stuff for sale in that community - but it sells fast. Good luck with your search!

The neighborhood within walking distance of the school seems to have a lot of kids, at least judging from the stream of families of "walkers" every morning. We live in 22181 and do see that there aren't too many kids. People who have raised their families here love the neighborhood and tend to stay even after their kids are grown, hence the older population. There are enough kids, though, to have a good friend or two nearby. Some AAP.
