Silent Movie Shown During Spin Class - Anyone else think this is weird?

Anonymous
I just joined Lifetime in Potomac and went to my first spin class this morning. I remembered from when I took the tour that there were two video screens placed at the front of the room, and I just assumed they were used to track people's RPMs and create a competitive atmosphere, a la what they do at Flywheel. But instead, they played some crazy 70s surfer movie with the sound off. I guess it was a welcome distraction in some ways but still, it was kind of bizarre. Anyone else experience this and think it's weird? The whole move to Potomac has required some serious cultural acclimation so I guess this is just another part of it.

I guess you haven't gotten to part where you are forced into a barometric chamber and given a french tip pedicure. How could you not know this was part of the Potomac health club package? Everyone knows this.

LOL -- actually, the silent movie could be very cool -- it's the first appealing thing I've heard about Potomac -- oh, except for the fabulous crab cakes at River Falls Market.

My gym has this. I love it. I don't get the best workout, but it's better than sitting on my ass at home watching a movie!

LOL! OP here. Of course, you are only forced into the barometric chamber and given a pedicure monday-thursday. God help you if you work outside the home and want to get it on a weekend, as I found out yesterday when I went to get my "lifetime bucks" to use at the spa. I was all excited about the big discounts on a massage and facial but then they said I have to use them within 30 days, and they're only good monday-thursday. Um... ok, well thanks anyway.

The part that seems strange is that it was a silent movie. A movie with sound would be ok. I like to workout to music or a movie that I can hear.

OP here. It was silent because there was already music playing for the spin class.

Sounds stupid to me and I spin often, let me zone in with music.

Sounds weird.

If they want to show a movie with no sound, they should stick with the classics--Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd.

OP here. Went to another spinning class today and the video screens played the video that went along with whatever song was playing at the time. Still kind of weird to me but it was better than the silent movie! and it was a great distraction b/c these classes are an hour long (I'm used to 45 minute spin classes at my old gym) and I can use all the help I can get. Somehow 60 minutes feels so much longer than 45.
