first sign of labor

For those that went into labor naturally, what was your first sign?

Like mild PMS cramps + flu-ish.

The next day I had my weekly doc. appt. and, lo and behold, I was 4 cm. dilated. I delivered my baby 3 days later.

I felt pain that felt like menstrual cramps briefly in the morning. The cramps/contractions returned that evening and I soon entered active labor. My son was born 12 hours later.

The day before I had diarrhea and period like cramps. The morning I went into labor, I woke up at 4:30am with strong cramps that lasted about 10 seconds. I knew I was in labor the minute that happened.

Woke up at 2:00 am with period like cramps and went to the bathroom. Pink discharge. Went back to bed and starting looking at the clock. Eventually I found a pattern with the cramps as they got stronger. Took a shower (there was no way I could go back to sleep). Called the OB at 5:00 am and went to the hospital at 6:00am. Birth at 1:30 pm.

Water broke at 4:30pm, contractions started at 12:30am, went to birth center at 12:30pm, son not born until 1:52 pm the next day. Thank god for my patient midwife!

lost my plug in the middle of the night. Felt really strange like and internal pop.

I was in a lot of pain...not like PMS at all...

I had PMS-like cramps as well. I wasn't positive I was in labor (since I was early), but I packed my bag and took a shower and got ready to go just in case.

I was in the grocery store and I just felt awful.(like a flu kind of) I remember I had to will myself to get on line and pay and get out (I was having 6 people for dinner the following night) I then had bleeding the next morning which made me very nervous but turned out to be the bloody show which most people don't see. After that contractions started and I knew I was in labor but she said it could take days-not to call back until they were 5 minutes apart. 24 hours later I called and we went in! (I actually kept the dinner party and kept sneaking upstairs to have contractions and then told everyone when I served dessert I knew no one would be able to eat if they knew earlier and it was BREAK Fast so they were starving--Yom Kippur!

Sat up in bed at 2am and felt like I had pee'd a little. I just thought that I had waited too long to get up and got to the bathroom. After I got to the bathroom and finished peeing, the fluid just kept coming - like a small stream of pee - and I realized that my water had broken. I also saw a bloody piece and figured I had lost my plug. I never had the big gush of water, just a slow stream. Didn't have DD until 30 hrs later on the following morning.
