I doubt that is legally accurate. |
Dream on. Admission letters are pulled all the time for lesser things -- and both the applicant and the school have an obligation to notify the college about disciplinary actions. |
Be forewarned - it happens a lot. |
| It just doesn't. Your transcripts get sent late June/mid July (at the earliest). When do all of these withdrawals from full admitted candidates over one or two Cs occur? August? I have walked this planet many years and never met ONE person whose offer was withdrawn. |
+1. Sorry to say, but they deserve some jail time to learn the lesson |
An candidate who is accepted early decision/action has to send in a first semester transcript when it becomes available. The transcript will also note suspensions and, of course, any expulsion. |
I did not think WL has ever had a kid go to Princeton. |
Guessing there is something very special about him/her since there have been many great students at WL. I hope Princeton is more thoughtful than some pps. Given that this as a hoax/bad joke and learning experience as everyone has drummed to death they don't have anything to worry about if the kids make it to the end of the year without further disciplinary problems. I hope they are getting adult support and positive messaging to that end, as it would be easy as a teen to go off the rails in an experience like this. |
| Why do we all assume the Princeton thing is for real? One PP stated that one of the kids had a full ride to Princeton but I'm now thinking that may be something made up to garner sympathy. I have a real difficult time believing that a student who has secured a full ride to Princeton so early in the school year would show such poor judgement. Plus, having a student who have been accepted by an ivy is quite a feather in the school's cap and I imagine they'd hate losing that student. So, I think that story about Princeton was bogus. |
For what it's worth, as a Princeton alum I would be appalled if the university admitted a student who threatened his school with a bomb. |
So it's your position that WL should make different decisions based on whether a kid is Princeton material versus ODU material? Okay! |
| I dont think they should. I do think it's funny all the people who roll community college into part of the 'punishment package' though. WL should make their decision (I think they made the wrong one) and Princeton or wherever should make theirs (I hope they make the right one). |
I think I was one of the first to mention community college and it was to counter the idea that the kids lives are ruined-- i.e. community college is NOT punishment, but a road to redemption. Signed, Community college grad that went on to a prestigious 4 year college and then on to law school. I attended community college in order to avoid debt (way cheaper even than state 4 year school) and it did prove to be a better value. |
| Thank you PP. Because a bunch of people piled on as if community college was part of the 'na na you're not going to Princeton serves you right package", which was a disservice to the kids, to community college and to Princeton. I totally agree with the worthiness you describe above (and proved in your own life). However, I would guess that had you been offered a great deal of assistance to Princeton, which may be the case here, you would have looked seriously at that option as an alternative to community college. |
+1 Seriously, people. Somebody heard something from somebody and then somebody posted it on the internet! So it has to be true! Is Princeton really giving away lots of "full rides" in January? Let's use a little common sense, folks. |
