How is "exclusive" defined?

CC will accept any kids. Just sign up until the session is filled. Mrs. Simpson's is by invite only, and I think you have to be recommended by a current student's family (like a country club).

Yes, Mrs. Simpson's is by invite and also the letter mentions being approved. So glad my kids are older now and we no longer receive that trash in the mail.

Some threads are timeless. Like "Getting into St. Albans": It's not just about the tests/interviews for getting in. It's now the repository for all information on incoming classes, changes in admissions, and a lot of information about the experience at the school. I look at it basically as the St. Albans thread.

This one too. It's the recurring thread for CC. Every few months, weeks maybe, someone will need to say something about the Cotillion (either for information or to rebash it). But I get it. I like having some threads like this.

LOL.

Happy New Year! See you at the ball.

The cotillion is a load of pretentious people trying to ensure that their sons become the most teased students in their classrooms. Let me assure all moms out there that no boy wants to attend these things and will never admit that they did such a foolish activity when they are in their college dorm, locker room, law firm or frat house later in life. You think guys really sit around and talk about how great Mrs Simpsons was? You guys really need to talk to your brothers, male friends and colleagues

CC seems very heavy on STA boys and NCS girls. So, if you're not part of that crowd, your DC may not fit in.

Not true at all. There are tons of kids from many different private schools, and kids from public schools too. When my DS did it I was astonished how many kids he already knew, through sports contacts.

Been there, done that. Trust me, this will be a non-issue regardless of your choice by the time your child is in high school.

I thought Cotillion actually kicked into high gear in the high school years?

Mrs. Simpson's seems heavily populated by the NPS and St. Pats crowd. Why this seeming division?

Not really. With Mrs Simpsons there is a Christmas dance for high school kids and then there is the Christmas Ball which is essentially a deb thing for high school seniors. As far as I can tell girls who did Mrs Simpsons are invited to do the Christmas Ball (at least mine was so I assume they all are, or at least those still attending in middle school - we aren't doing it so haven't been to the related events).

Do you know how much the "deb thing" costs and/or how time consuming it is?
