| Our appeal is on its way now! Good luck to everyone. And now we wait… |
| Has anyone that has submitted the AAP appeal package this month received a notification stating that their package was received? |
| Good luck to all of us who appealed. Thank you for sharing your experiences and answering the questions. I sent my package on certified mail with return receipt requested. Mine said the expected delivery date is Tuesday, May 5th. Postmarked May 1st. |
Now we keep our fingers and toes crossed
|
Mine was sent on 4/24 with certified mail and tracking shows it was delivered on 4/27. No confirmation of receipt from the AAP office yet. Plan to call next week if it is still crickets. |

Just curious - those who sent the Appeal package, how long were your cover letters?
The cover letter is a very important component in this package as that's where a parent presents his/her argument/logic in detail countering the ineligibility decision. |
A page. Maybe 4 paragraphs. Like a letter |
| Did anyone, who had successful AAP appeal in the past submit a longer length appeal letter (more than a page)? |
I know this is very late replying but to be honest, I think the work samples mean as much (or more) as another test score during an appeal. Our neighbor used to be on the central screening and said they are really big on work samples, despite the “holistic” review overall. It’s clear to them when the parent has “helped” too much so don’t make that mistake. ALWAYS appeal and never give up and try the following year if need be. It’s like a college acceptance and it’s supply/demand for the current crop and could be very different the next year |
Hey there.. we did a well constructed appeal but was not more than a page… perhaps focus on the work samples.. They really like “out of the box” type samples that are simple yet show a deep thought process. You have to be an advocate for your child and make yourself stand out from the crowd. It’s really a numbers game and reminds me of our older kids… the smartest one didn’t get in UVA initially but the following year our “goof off” got in early.. go figure |
Best of luck! Just fyi they ask not to send if a “signature is required” because there is no one to sign many times. I recall doing ours with tracking and confirmation , but this was 2,years ago and it may have changed. Just follow up on this to make sure it was delivered (and left) 😉 |
| Thank you for that bit about " Signature us required". I will most definitely check. I didn't see anywhere on their instructions about not sending where signature is required. But I will definitely check. Appreciate you mentionting that. |
We kept our appeal letter to 1 page. |

For those wondering, this is what we got as confirmation of receipt.
We have received your AAP Full-Time Appeal packet. The appeals committee will review both the new information provided and the original screening documentation. A final decision notification will be sent via email on June 5, 2026. Thank you, Advanced Academic Programs |
| Thanks for the june 5 date! Anyone from last year remember how long they give to accept? A week? |
