Springbrook HS Staff Letter

...and they retaliate against us if we do our jobs like we are trained and instructed to do with grading, reporting violence, and communicating concerns to stake holders.

Her name is Valentine? 🤣 She sounds ridiculous and not so friendly.

It was heralded as “Staff Appreciation Week.” Security, counseling, and the nurse won some award at the end of the day Friday. While we appreciate all of them, they each have their own weeks of recognition. This seemed like an intentional slight to downplay TEACHER Appreciation Week. A promise of ice cream, only to walk into a room with a table full of old Halloween Candy. Teachers were given expired chips and expired drinks. It was the perfect representation of how SV feels about the teachers at this school.

Usually the PTA does staff appreciation.

Usually there are efforts by both the school and the PTSA. Though I guess in schools where the PTSA is well resourced, they could very well handle all of the teacher appreciation week events.

Pretty much everything was leftover or expired food that was given to us from other school events. We barely saw the PTSA at all.

They raffled gift cards and gave them to anyone but teachers and Valentine argued with the AP/IB/State testing coordinators about making announcements of the winners while students were still testing, just so she could feed her own ego.

Not surprised. It's sad how the PTSA is in the back pocket of Valentine and stays silent and complicit with all of her nonsense.

Yeah when the pta finds out Teachers take cell phones away they will start a smear campaign on teachers as if we are trying to take a students safety and security device away. She Gone,! As they oust teachers who have standards! Good luck,,,!

She is now hosting listening sessions for students next week in which she is hand picking the students and the facilitators. How is any of this okay?

Ask Robby Dodd, Donna Redmond-Jones and Peter Moran.

It's not. Start a change.org petition, it may help gain traction

Nobody looks or cares about those. Writing Taylor, the BOE, and CC is the only way to get any attention.

The ROI on that is dubious as well. At the end of the day, it's pretty impossible to enact change in MCPS because the system strongly resists it at every turn.

It worked for Rock Creek Valley earlier this year.

APs usually suffer in silence. A sign that APs are struggling under a tyrant principal is high turnover at the AP level. Not sure if that is the case at Springbrook, but that’s where I would look first.

SHS has had 5 new APs since Stephanie Valentine started. Only one of the original ones remain. I think that speaks for itself

One Assistant Principal is leaving at the end of the year for PBHS. Another was just announced to be on leave for the rest of the year and an acting was just named. That’s now 7 new APs in 3 years time. Even the culture for APs is toxic.
