BUT, I feel like with everything going on, boundary changes might be the least of our worries?! DOGE is going to cut the federal work force and by default, many of the private sector jobs. It’s going to devastate the economy in this area. FCPS will not get nearly as much funding. There will be cuts at the federal level. The FARMS rate will increase almost in every school. Youngkin will sell his soul to stay on Trump’s good side. And don’t get me started on the whole “patriotic education” BS that’s floating around as a requirement for schools. So I understand that people are nervous about boundaries, but things are going to get so much worse at this rate.

That's a fairly strong argument, whether intended or not, as a reason to pause this boundary review when (1) the enrollment numbers could change for reasons totally outside FCPS's control; and (2) people may have so much else going on to deal with.

If you just want to complain about Trump, DOGE, or Youngkin, there's an entire Politics forum for that.

You totally missed the point. I’m not pro boundary changes but I think we are going to have much bigger issues. It’s funny how you think it’s just about complaining about Trump when I’m saying I’m worried that FCPS will be decimated. I was making the point—which you totally seem to have missed-that boundaries might end up being the least of our worries.

DP. Your whataboutism is contrived. Akin to saying well there will already be massive upheaval, so this addition will just be piling onto that upheaval. Someone is stealing from you, so let these other people steal from you too at the same time.

I will hold the SB as responsible for the upheaval. They get no free passes from my family. I’m not alone in that sentiment.

I am not saying I’m pro boundary changes. No I don't think now is a great time to mix things up. I was just venting that I’m scared of how everything that is going on (go to my OP) might end up making this whole boundary discussion seem pointless if it all comes crashing down? Like just freaking pondering out loud. Looking at the bigger picture?

I’ll tell you what is not a good idea to do now- boundary changes. I am as up in arms with you against what is going on in this region, but instead of focusing on just that I have to fight the battle on the left and right flank. It’s exhausting, but especially coming from the school board in light of everything that is happening at the federal level.

In just one year, the SB turned me from an ally into a bitter political enemy.

Rather be that than a minimizing sb shill.

Also, good luck with those federal funding cuts. I’ll be pivoting to pushing for vouchers once the boundary changes go through. And I’ll be working to cut property taxes. Bitter political enemy is an appropriate phase given my disdain for this school board.

Yes, still unhinged.

I don't care at all. Good luck on your quest to lower property taxes!

Correct. I don't care you are losing it. It's good entertainment though. Better than anything on TV.

So how quickly after the boundary changes are announced do the cheap rentals (<=~$2,000) get snatched up by displaced families?

It’ll be fun to watch them crowd others who need that housing out.

FCPS educates a good number of foreign nationals here illegally, PWC and PGC students. Are they all of a sudden going to care about enforcing boundaries?

Well, if Langley is the hot shit y’all seem to think it is the families in those Tysons apartments will renew their leases.

This extends far beyond Langley. You’ve been really hostile to Langley lately. Just wanted to acknowledge your feelings because you seem to be going through some stuff.

Just a thought.

Several posts on the previous (now locked) thread pointed out that the SB push that resulted in the revisions to the boundary policy (8130.8) have been in the works for years. Others noted that that push was “prior years” under a “different school board”. So where is that “different school board” now? Many are state delegates who represent Fairfax county. They sought and obtained higher office.

So, if you do not like the fruits of the policy those prior school board members have sown, why not vote them out of office? They are all up for primaries in June.

It only takes 125 signatures, but you have to act fast. It can be done. Send a message. Primary the former school board members who set the stage for this mess.

If your ES is at risk of shifting, you can find 125 parents to sign the petition and get on the ballet. You just have to act NOW.

Take a look, it’s easy (there are nice links and a flow chart):

https://www.elections.virginia.gov/media/candidatesandpacs/2025-candidate-bulletins/2025-06-17_Pr_One_Pager_House_of_Del_rev_1-28-25.pdf

You do not have to wait for the next SB election to make your voice heard. But do have to act quickly.

For example, take a look at this, Oakton pyramid:

If really want to make an impact, make it now. All you need is 125 signatures. Send a message.

The current SB will take more notice of the political risk their actions present than any comments a citizen submits to BRAC.

The SB implementing a boundary change at this moment in time is TERRIBLE IDEA.

Great idea. I don’t have any in my district, but would love to hear if any other areas of the county have folks doing this. I’d love to get involved and canvass. Only requirement is opposition to the comprehensive boundary review.

The argument that “Fairfax will always be blue, it doesn’t matter what we do” falls apart when they get a primary challenge down the road.

Act now. The SB will listen to this.
