You think it’s gross that the family of the soldier buried next to the soldier whose grave was used as a prop issued a statement decrying their loved one’s inclusion in that propaganda without their permission? Talk about gross.

The family and Trump were clearly gathered around the grave of the Fallen Marine. The adjacent grave marker (half of it) was only in the photo because of the proximity. They were there to honor the Abbey Gate Marines. No disrespect was meant to the other Fallen.

The families asked for a photo. It’s not propaganda. Where were Joe and Kamala?

I think if Kamala made a campaign ad next to the grave of this family's child they would object.

The family of the Green Beret buried there is quite upset that their loved one became part of a Trump commercial.

This is unforgivable.

Has Kamala ever visited Arlington?

Exactly. If and when politicians visit Arlington it should not be broadcast. I don't know and I should not know if trump was there either.

What the heck? Politicians now can’t honor Americas Fallen? The families of American Military members can’t hold ceremonies to commemorate their fallen loved ones?

Are you serious? Why can’t they?

Of course they can. They can't use it for political ads. Any kind of official ceremony is different.

Can't you understand the disaster of politicizing military service? The families that are thrilled to see trump featuring Arlington in his ads would be outraged to see Harris featuring Arlington in her ads And vice versa. It's not appropriate or legal and there is a long tradition of that.

Arlington also does not want professional photographers publishing photos of the graves of the recently deceased out of respect for the families, regardless of whether politicians are involved or not. But here's Trump blasting it all over Tik Tok and social media for millions of views to boost his campaign.

Check Trump's Tik Tok and social media. And stop playing the incredulous obtuse fool.

It really doesn't matter what the family asked for. It was against the rules, the Trump campaign was informed of that, and their response was to rough up the Cemetary emoyee who told them.so.

They were sent the rules in writing in advance of the visit. And ignored them. And then told the rules again when they arrived, to again ignore them and instead they shouted at the Arlington Memorial official, accused her of being deranged and physically shoved her out of the way. Disgusting.

There is no way that this visit to ANC was anything but a political campaign optic. Johnson arranged Trump's visit. Cadet Bone Spur and Johnson have no respect for the dead or living members of the military.

No one has any problems taking pictures. I think it's in poor taste to give thumbs up sign at the grave of anyone, never mind a fallen soldier, but that's not the problem. There are explicit prohibitions against having photos taken for the purpose of being used in campaigns. That's what the Trump campaign did, used the photo in their campaign ads. Which includes another fallen soldier's headstone, whose family did not give them permission to use it.

This is a VERY good point. The whole thing was political from start to finish. It’s really sad.

Sorry but the thumbs up does it for me. It’s like yay! Someone’s dead and we get to take pictures on the grave, isn’t this funny and cool? The level of complete and utter ignorance to do that is astounding. Like a 4 year old who had no idea what was going on would not even do that.

And I’ll bet they are pissed that they’re not getting the big political “win” they were expecting.

I’m sure Trump will get past this eventually, but my God, if Harris had taken that picture the response would be BRUTAL.

I know imagine. There’s such a double standard. Trump can dodge the draft and calls soldiers losers and his staff can crap all over the military at a sacred site and no matter what they’re able to sell themselves as pro-military.
