Can we discuss this Nik Wallenda thing?

Am I the only one who thinks he is just incredibly stupid? Why risk your life to do something so unnecessary when there are so many people in the world who don't have a choice about their fate? Why is this heroic, noble, or admirable?

I agree. Total attention whore.

It's not. It spits in the face of the precious gift of life -- something that should be cherished and used to create a meaningful legacy.

It's not any of those. It's just voyeuristic and entertaining. But I just read there's a 10 second delay so even if something goes awry it's unlikely we will see it.

This isn't anything new. There have always been dare-devils and record breaking attempts that risk one's life. Magicians, swimmers, etc.

I don't know if he's heroic or noble, but I'd say admirable in his dedication. It's not something you or I would try, but it's his trade and craft, and runs deep in his family history. Surely any of us can sympathize with owning up to our family namesakes and traditions - even if fairly odd at times.

I always wonder at how it's all put together. He said he's been training for this for is for awhile - how does the fundg work? Hoe does he make a living? I guess just putting together the package with TV probably gives him enough advance money to plan it.

I'm watching. Makes me remember watching Evil Kneivel or however you spell his name. (It wasn't Evil, was it?)

PP, I do kinda wish he wasn't saying praise you Jesus every few seconds.

This is crazy!

It makes me anxious.

The Jesus talk! Hahaha. Someone is going to be upset.

Can't be he's praising God as he walks across.

OP here - DH is watching and yes, I could go to another room so I only have myself to blame. But still, I can't help but think that if he falls, it's his own stupid fault. And yeah, if he thinks Jesus has nothing better to do than keep his wire steady, he's a little touched in the head....

+1. I am watching it now. And he is repeating prayers and thanks to Lord over and over, which is driving me nuts. If you valued God so much, you wouldn't be doing this stunt.

I hate that I am watching it. I can't believe something like this is on TV.

I keep thinking God's going to kick up a big gust of wind and test him.

Joel Osteen is there too. Got to have everyone on your side.

Would it really detract so much if he had a safety net or harness??
