Hike/Walk ideas in DC/VA area (with bathrooms)

Anonymous
Hi

Any recommendations on areas to take walks. The dog and I have done Burke Lake, Manassas, some of the smaller neighbourhood parks near me. I like ones that have shade every once in a while and have bathrooms along the way.

Thanks

It's not really hiking, but Ben Brenman Park in Alexandria has bathrooms, as well as benches, and quite a lot of walking can be done in the area!

Rock Creek Park trails in DC proper.

Good ones, I've not ever walked Rock Creek just cycled. Keep 'em coming, now that I'm not riding any more, very handy.

Haines Point. Or the Tidal Basin.

Not sure about bathrooms, but Roosevelt Island has a nice boardwalk that goes around the island and is well shaded.

Roosevelt Island does have bathrooms.

Do you want running water or are portables ok? Search both the travel forum and sports and fitness forums - you'll find a lot of reccomendations. Most local trails have at least port-o-pottys at the trail head.

You're probably not going to want to do the Billy Goat Trail while pregnant As I recall, it was pretty strenuous (and crowded) with lots of rock scrambling.
