| I am looking for a nutritionist - in downtown DC or NoVa - who can help me figure out whether I have certain food intolerances. My primary goal is not weight loss (although losing 10 lbs would be a bonus). I eat a healthy diet for the most part, but I often feel mildly nauseous and just blah, and I am not pregnant. I suspect food issues and am hoping to find a nutritionist who can help me be a sleuth. Does anyone know of someone like this? |
| Dana Laake, but she's in MD. |
| Susan Moore, MS RD in Springfield |
| Karen Threkle at Restorative Health in DC |
| see an allergist or an immunologist, e.g., celiac is an autoimmune disease |

You can do it yourself pretty easily
Strip your diet down to lean protein, veggies, fruits and water for two weeks Add back one food group at a time and see how you feel (dairy for 2 weeks, then try adding wheat and see how you feel) |

I second the Dr. Threkle at Restorative Health in F Heights, DC, she was such a help to me before I even knew I had any of these intolerances, I wasn't feeling well, and she worked with my insurance to do some VERY expensive
testing for a good price. If for any reason you cannot afford the testing, I would agree with the p. poster and go with a do it yourself kind of elimination. The only problem with that, is you may also be sensitive to certain veggies or fruits. |
