Just got an estimate from FH Furr's for blown in attic insulation. Were quoted $4000 for Propink Blown in insulation to bring the current R-12 up to R-48. House is around 3- 4000 square feet. Does this seem high to anyone? Also, does anyone have experience with this company? If not do you have a recommendation? I was at Costco inquiring about their attic insulation program and I guess they have a contract with this company. The more I write this out here the less informed I feel. Help!
should be about 1/2 that
Thanks!
FYI -- Furr subcontracts this job and that's probably why it is high. Get some more estimates.
Really high! Get at least 3 estimates. I think we paid close to a thousand for a split level attic, can't remember exactly.

Are they putting anything else up there besides the blown in insulation?
We paid about $1200 for blown in insulation & aluminum barriers between the split roof (to reduce heat transfer). Also, check if they'll put in soffit vents if you have soffits. I forgot to ask and they didn't. They did take pictures to make sure soffits weren't covered over (I could see daylight coming through), but I'd much preferred to have real vents. |
Thanks everyone! I'm definitely getting more estimates.
