I am a couple months from having a baby. I have boxes of pre-pregnancy clothes which are much smaller than I am now. I am hoping to lose more of the weight but am wondering whether most people just toss the old stuff or keep it. I'm only 5-10 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but my body shape has dramatically changed (more weight in hips/thighs) such that it will be a WHILE before I can wear my pre-pregnancy clothes. |
I actually lost my pregnancy weight, and then some! I tossed all my pre-preg clothes because I am now a size smaller. You never know......it takes at least a year after pregnancy to settle in to your new shape. |
I spent a lot of money on all those pre-pregnancy clothes..I'm not tossing them unless I'm SURE I'll never wear them again. |
I'm just going to wait and see. I'm only 3 lbs over my PP weight and only some of my pants fit (Which is really annoying!). I figure it's a good motivation to maybe get to a few lbs under my PP weight. |
For the most part, I saved and am wearing my same clothes including most of my pants. The only thing I can no longer wear are tighter tees and shirts...they just aren't flattering on that post-baby pouch. |
Definitely save them, since you never know. |
I did weed through some and got rid of the ones I don't think I'll wear again, i.e., my "hoochie" clothes! Not befitting of a new momma to have a shirt cut down to there, if you know what I mean. ![]() But, I saved a lot, because I love some of those clothes! Its also a great motivating factor to get back in shape, to try to fit in those jeans again. I had a give away party to donate my clothes to my friends and that was fun. |
Give yourself at least 2 years. I'm now back into my clothes and a little smaller. Really depends on your exercise level and habits that you end up adopting. Some people lose it early, others take more time, and some keep it on. Hard tp predict where you will fall. I didn't expect to lose it all but ended by so busy with 2 kids and work was pleasantly surprised. |
I kept it all and in a few months was back wearing them. |
I tossed many of my pre pregnancy clothes because I moved 3 months after giving birth, and I figured it wasn't worth moving them. But I lost the weight and then some by 7 months. You just never know how things are going to turn out. To apply Murphy's Law: if you toss them, you'll lose all the weight and then some. If you keep them, you'll never fit into them again. |
Definitely don't toss them yet. I still don't fit any of my pants (but I'm determined that I will), but almost all of my shirts fit. |
I saved them after my first, I knew I would want another one down the road. After the second, I saved them only until I lost all the weight...and then I gave them to a pregnant friend. |
Agree! |
Yup, I saved them...and in August (when son was 17 months) I finally fit back into them! Now I'm 8 weeks pregnant...sigh...looks like another two years til I try them again..they'll probably be out of style! |
I saved all of my clothes, most of which did fit after I lost all of my weight, a few of the pants no longer would accomodate my hips. There are things that change and no matter how much weight you lose...well, some areas just don't shrink, in my case it was the hips...they are a little larger than before....the problems I had were my old jeans. Good Luck with losing the weight ![]() |
