Cats make the best pets

Anonymous
In my opinion, cats make the absolute best pets. They are affectionate, cuddly, smart, many learn their names, they like to play, they are loyal, they are sensitive, they are easy to take care of. I love cats!

I also think cats are much cuter than dogs, in general.

Anyone else think that cats are the best pets?

Sorry, no. Can't get past the stinky litter box. Yuck.

What's wrong with the litter box? If you clean it at least once a day there shouldn't be a smell. How is that any better than picking up dog waste with your own hand? I think that's pretty gross.

I also hate litter boxes and all the dust and litter that cats kick around. Just the thought of dirty litter pebbles under my feet creeps me out.

See, you could have said, "IMO, cats make good pets, etc." But, no, you had to go and declare yourself in absolute terms, thereby igniting a flame war on the Internet.

FTW, turtles rule.

The thought of all the nasty stuff that dogs drag in on their paws--dirt, oil on driveways, pesticides from walking on lawns creeps me out because that goes right onto your floors and on your furniture.

I'm with you, OP. My cat gives me and my kids daily joy. He's super patient and affectionate. That said, he's the best in a long line. There are some nasty cats out there.

...until they are old and decrepit and start peeing on things. Nothing medically wrong either. Ugh.

Just like all the stuff that is tracked in on your shoes?

Dogs are cuddly, cats not so much.

I think cats are more cuddly than dogs. Who really wants to pick up most dogs? They are too big and some get too stinky unless you bathe them every week.

Been a cat lover for many years and I agree with all you say. But we adopted a dog last fall and I have to say she brings me a lot of joy.

My cat is not the best pet. She craps on the floors, even if we just cleaned her litter box minutes ago (we clean it daily). We took her to a vet, nothing medically wrong. Very, very, very frustrating.

A good cat is a great pet . A dog is a lot more responsibility but if you're ok with that they are great too.

We take our shoes off at the door. Swabbing down a dog's paws (after having picked up its poop) is a bit much for me.

Hence, cat. VERY cuddly, playful cat, still, at almost 10 years old.
