OMG, What if there is a tie tomorrow!?

I know that the house gets to decide, but what are the guidelines? Does each rep just vote as they see fit or do they have to follow their state. Also, how much time would they have to decide - Will McCain and Obama have time to lobby?

P.S. BTW, a tie is definately possible!

It's NOT going to be a tie. No way.

I fear a repeat of the 2000 Presidential elections, long & drawn out with the decision drop-kicked to the courts.

Each state's delegation gets one vote. I think everyone expects the votes to be pretty much party line, with nobody paying attention to how their states voted, so the issue is how many states will have Dem majorities and how many have Rep. It appears very likely that Dems will win.

As long as they are going by state, I do not understand why the simpler expedient of giving the election to the candidate who won more states in the original election was not Plan B, with the House as Plan C if Plan B was also a tie.

I don't know about how the reps vote. But I can assure you that my head will explode, Scanners - style.
