Recommend a roofer in Mclean

Anonymous
We have a 1950's split level that needs a new roof. Maybe it's the Mclean address, but I'm getting estimates of $20,000 from just a shingle roof---not slate, not cedar, just shingle. This seems kind of high to me. I've only had two estimates so far, but could anyone recommend a roofer or suggest a way to proceed that might be a bit . . . cheaper?

Go on Angie's list.

Welcome to the Mclean "tax". Estimates are almost always higher than just a few miles away. Unfortunately, too many people pay the extra, so they get away with it.

Try Hill Roofing Corp. http://hillroofingcorporation.com/index.html

I found them on Angie's List. They are replacing my roof next week. Not fancy but they have great ratings on Angie's and BBB and they were 30% less than Shiner Roofing. I'm in Arlington.

We had a good experience with Pond Roofing, highly recommended by checkbook, but it was not cheap. It was in the price range you said. It was in line with 3 other estimates, though.
