Dealing with white kitchen cabinets

Bought a house that needs a kitchen reno. The existing cabinets are in decent shape, we just need more of them. They're also white, and I'm not sure how to coordinate everything else (countertops, floor, etc) with white. Id rather have a natural color like maple or something. I know cabinets can be refaced, but how do we approach this if we need some new ones as well? Pick the new cabinets and then see if the old ones can be refaced to match?

Or are we better off staying with white and seeing if new ones can be built to match?
