I want to make bread in my dutch oven. Apparently this way I can have a crispy artisan loaf.
So far, I have made: - garlicky limey hummus - chocolate chip currant granola - runny yogurt - radish and carrot pickles I do this because I prefer my own versions (and the price of the yummy chocolate granola at the Bethesda Whole Foods is just outrageous!). What exciting things are you making? |

Homemade jam and ice cream with summer fruits.
Re: artisan bread in Dutch oven- it's insanely easy and delicious. Just be prepared to scrape or soak dough scraps from the kitchen towel after you slide it into the hot oven. |
| I make my own croutons from stale bread, especially sourdough or french bread. Delicious. |

Bread Pancakes and Waffles Tomato Sauce (it amazes me that people stilll buy jarred sauce) Bread crumbs There are more, but those are the basics. The only one that is even remotely difficult is bread - and I admit, I cheat with a bread maker. Op, this is the most popular dutch oven bread recipe (though "artisan" may be a bit much): http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html?_r=0 |

Pretty much this. Will add pasta, mac and cheese, and applesauce. |
| I just made really easy tasty salad dressing: juice of 1 lemon, roughly same amount of olive oil, salt, pepper. Shake in a small tupperware and it will keep in the fridge for a little while. |
Mash a garlic clove with the salt and add to your dressing. It's the typical Lebanese dressing for fattousch or tabbouleh or just a garden variety tossed salad. It amps up the taste! |
