Job relocation to another country - expenses question

We will be moving to Sydney, Australia for a job. We are trying to figure out a general, ballpark estimate of how much it will cost to move the contents of a 3 bedroom home to Australia. I have been trying to do some e-research on it and have seen everything from $2,000 to $10,000. I am tending to think it will be more like $10,000, but I haven't found any good resources. First, does anyone have experience with such a move, and how much did it cost? Also, does anyone know of an online resource to find information?

Before anyone advises to leave everything behind and buy things in Australia (which we have considered), I have been advised that the cost of living is much higher in Australia, and to replace our things would cost more than moving them.

OP: I forgot to mention, then is a permanent move, so leaving our things here in storage is not an option.

$2,000? I would be shocked. I am paying about $5,000 to move 4 hours away. Call some of the moving companies that do international moves.
