I don't have experience with this exact thing directly, but I have been trying to buy with a VA loan, and it is very hard in this competitive sellers' market. At least, in certain neighborhoods. When all other things are equal (price you offer, other contingencies, etc), sellers just seem more likely to go with a conventional loan.
Doesn't mean it's impossible! May require compromising on the size/type/location of house you want. |
bought with a VA loan but before the market got crazy
We did, but we lost out a couple of times because other offers had a conventional loan. I hear it's even worse with VA loans.
Yes, but we lost out a bunch of times and landed a house nobody else wanted with tons of stairs in front and a hill in the back - you might have to settle for a less than perfect house. But now, I love the privacy of our place and am glad we won it.
We are under contract with a VA loan. Estate sale in a busy but not among the most competitive market. The house had sat on the market more than a week. We lost a bid where the house had several offers the first weekend.
Lost a couple bids with a VA loan where there were multiple offers. Not sure that was 100% why we didn't get them since we otherwise had strongly priced offers, and I know the sale prices ended up over our high bids so hopefully it wasn't just because we were a VA loan.
