In search of Hair Salons or stylists that handles African American hair textures near Pentagon City

Anonymous
Greetings,

My family and I recently moved here from NYC to Pentagon City. I'm having a hard time finding a salon that deals with my hair texture. Any advice or recommendations for a salon that caters to a diverse audience in the Pentagon City area would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I used to go to Salon Cielo near Nordstrom and they had a couple of stylists that did African American hair. This was back in 2008 so I have no idea if they're still there.

I went here before based on a Black Dominican friend's recommendation. Had a horrible haircut (was supposed to be a trim) because the stylist didnt understand shrinkage. So unless your hair is more wavy/curly or is relaxed and not naturally poofy like mine, I would find someone in DC.

I just realized that this was in 2005 so disregard! They probably have better stylists now!

Can you check with the local Mocha Moms chapter? I'm disappointed there are not more responses here. My AA friends get their hair done in MD, so I'm no help. There is one place in Crystal City that does wash and blowdry for AA hair, but I'm not sure of the salon name.

There are plenty of spots in DC/MD if OP is willing to travel into the city or PG county.

Bubbles at Pentagon City mall usually has a couple stylists who specialize in Af-Am hair. I haven't been there in a couple of years, so I don't know who you should request, but if you call the desk and ask them to ID stylists who regularly do AA hair, they should point you in the right direction.

Angels Salon on Pickett St. in Alexandria. I takes my daughter there. It's right off 395. There is another salon in the same shopping center that also has a good black stylist but can't remember the name.
