PG resident: Received postcard advertising DC Charter school

Anonymous
Has anyone else received one in the mail. I do live on the border of DC and maybe they targeted my zip code. Strange.

LOL! Yeah, I would guess it was just a mixup because of zip code.

Lol the DC board would be irate! They would not be happy to know that DC charters are encouraging "cheaters" coming in from out of bounds!

You should go post this on the DC Public/Charter forum. People will be really angry and may do something about it. There was a thread about cheaters from PG, so maybe it mitigates it somewhat if they know the charters themselves may be recruiting in PG (even unintentionally). At minimum it is a waste of money for that school to be sending mailers to the wrong county and they should probably be aware they can't just mail indiscriminately to your zip code without creating a potential problem. Bump it over to the DC folks. My guess is if you name the school someone over there will contact them. They are go-getters when it comes to charters

OP here. Nah, there is no need to get them inflamed. I have already called the school this morning about the postcard.

My local elementary school needs to do a little marketing in the community to encourage parent participation.

I live in MoCo and just got one. I'm in Takoma Park, so I am close to the border, but don't we have a separate zip code?

OP here. Of course we have different zip codes, I think it is a little aggressive marketing on the part of the Charter.

Maybe they are trying to lure folks back to DC.

or, they grabbed a list marked "Takoma Park" and nobody was bright enough to divide it into DC and MD zip codes. In Laurel, MD postal addresses we have a zip for the City of Laurel in PG county, Laurel outside the city in PG, Laurel outside the city in Howard County, and Laurel outside the city in Anne Arundel. All the addresses are Laurel, MD. Schools aren't exactly postal mail marketing experts.
