By far its Sherwood. A lot of school spirit, no clannish groups that exclude others, and a generally great place to go to school.

Is Rosa Parks M.S. great too? We are in Takoma Park but considering Olney for more greenery...space..

Blair is far from cliquish. Its size guarantees a great selection of advance courses plus a city-sized selection of kids.

Sherwood sports are awesome though. Blair is more up and coming in sports.

Kind of apples and oranges...Sherwood does have a lot more community, partly because school is the center of activity living out in olney/Ashton, whereas Blair has a more urban feel, where social activity includes out of school hanging out. Blair has the magnet program too and is a much larger school.

Not sure either one is "better" so much as a different style of overall life, both home and school.

Um, olney/Ashton is no longer the rural panacea it was back in the 70s. And Blair in Silver Spring....the burbs...is not the urban hipster center that the Silver Spring folks think it is. DC is urban....Silver Spring is the burbs.

Having said that, when comparing the two schools, Blair is huge, and sherwood is a bit smaller. Blair is more diverse racially and socioeconomically. Both ate excellent academically.

Rosa parks is excellent.

Blair is definitely cliquish. Though it is more diverse overall there is very little actual diversity in the magnet programs (math/science and communication arts).
