Hair color is too dark on ends-- help

Anonymous
I'm the OP who was asking the other day about coloring my hair at home. I chickened out and went to the salon!

I went back to my natural base color (level 6) with some subtle blonde highlights to add dimension.

I love, love how my hair looks now-- from about my ears on up. But the ends of my hair turned out really dark. I don't know if it's because there are no highlights down toward the bottom, or because she was adding base color on top of hair that was really bleached out from highlights, or what.

If I went back to the salon, could they correct this somehow so my hair isn't so dark at the ends? Or is this just the natural result of trying to return to your base color when you have over-highlighted your hair for 15 years?

They can totally add more highlights to give you a look you like more but the color your seeing is what all over one tone hair looks like, I personally like more highlights in my hair it feels more balanced to me.

Thanks! I guess I learned for myself what all-over one tone hair looks like-- kinda strange. I'll ask them to add some more highlights.

It sounds like they didn't do your hair properly if the ends are darker. That's what I would expect more from a do it yourself job.

Yep, I bet its all one color but the bottom feels darker because of the high lights on top, I was not a fan when I tried all over blonde. You live and learn

OP here-- after careful examination, I think the base color on the ends really is darker than at the roots. My husband even noticed it. Is that correctable or would they just add more highlights?
