Questions to ask first grade teacher in open forum

DD finishing kindergarten, we are transferring to new school- immersion.
Curious what other parents maybe concerned about in anticipation gor the following year. What questions would you ask? Thanks for your help. |

My son is going to first grade in the fall as well. He's at a small school with a specific curriculum, so I don't have many questions about that. If he were going to a new school, I'd ask similar questions for first as I did for kindergarten:
1) How is reading taught? Phonics, sight words, mixture? Can kids learn at their own pace? 2) How much outdoor time, PE, or recess is there? 3) what is your homework philosophy/policy? 4) What is the discipline policy? 5) What would you like us to do at home this year to support Jane's education? |
