appletree parents

My child will be attending appletree for ps3 this fall and I was wondering do parents still apply to different schools for your child to attend for pk4 or do you stay with the program until after pk4 then look for a place for your child In kindergarten.

Depends on your situation. We're IB for Maury and will not apply elsewhere if we like PreS3 at AppleTree LP, as we expect. Maury has to take us for K but didn't have room for us for PreS3. We would like to stay at AppleTree for two years and don't expect Maury to have room for us in PreK4 anyway.

We know Brent, Peabody and other Maury IB families in similar circumstances. It sounds like 3 year-old refugees from the long IB wait lists from the three schools will flood AppleTree LP this fall (meaning more high-SES kids than this year).

Those shopping for a K-5 charter will surely still shop!

We had two kids go to Appletree for a year, loved it, and were lucky enought to get one in a K-5 charter and sibling preference for the other.

I only have nice things to say about Appletree and its terrific program.

Unfortunately if you do not have an acceptable IB option, then you really should lottery in PK just in case. We were at Appletree CH and loved it, but we couldn't pass up a chance to try for a long term option starting in PK.
