Did you see Dr. Tchabo but eventually switched to another doctor

Dr. Tchabo delivered my baby, and I loved him. He was so kind and took me on relatively late. He calmed me down after a difficult experience at another practice.

I need to see a GYN and eventually hope to need another OB. WHile I trust Dr. T implicitly, I can't wait in the long lines at this time.

He really is one of kind, but if you saw Dr. Tchabo and switched because of wait-time issue, who is your OB/GYN?

Dr. T delivered my first. Then I went to my primary care provider for my paps. Then when I got pregnant again, I went back to Dr. T. I can't do the long waits for a simple pap.

You could switch to a midwifery practice for gyn care, like Birthcare in Alexandria or Midwifery Care Assoicates in Bethesda. Then if/when you get pregnant again you could either stay with the midwives or go back to Dr. T. I know that Birthcare, for example, works closely with Dr. T. and they really respect him so it would be a smooth transition either way.

I second what 14:12 said. Although Dr. Tchabo didn't deliver my baby, he was my backup if I would have been transfered to a hospital for delivery from Birth Care in Old Town, Alexandria. I've actually never met him, but I trusted my midwives at Birth Care and would have trusted him as well because of the close relationship they have with him.

Why don't you call his office and see if he recommends any other OBs? I think I read on these boards recently that he's not taking any new patients. If that's the case, he may have a list of alternative recommendations.

FWIW, I've heard BirthCare has a wait list right now, so if you're considering using them, call them right away!

Dr. Tchabo was my doctor for both my pregnancies but I always got routine care from my primary care physician (internist) including paps.

Dr. Tchabo is the backup doctor for my practive (Bannon, Armstrong and Lawson)--he wound up delivering my second child and I agree that he is calming and wonderful. If this helps-I was crushed when I realized that I couldn't have my primary doctor (Bannon) deliver me since I went into labor during an off hour where he was on call. That is how much I love Dr. Bannon..so I am thinking maybe she might be a great practice for you 703-748-9880. Good luck!
