The landlord of the house next to me rented to a guy who had just gotten out of jail -- for breaking and entering. I had to call the police several times because they were fighting in the street. I called and wrote the landlord to yry to comvince him to evict them to no avail.

Sorry, OP, it's a frustrating situation but I am afraid there is nothing you can do.

Shitty neighbors suck. Landlords often only care when the tenant doesn't pay rent or bothers one of their other tenants who are more reliable in paying rent and not disturbing the peace.

OP here. Not a renter situation. A home owners (plural) situation. "Old" families trying to make "new" families move.

Are they trying to boot you and your family out of the neighborhood? Why?

Wouldn't you just be replaced by more new neighbors?

Do they want to buy your property?

Happened to friends of mine. Moved in and built an addition on their house that was 1) permitted properly and 2) approved by the county and the neighbor didn't like anything and everything. Ended up suing the contractor and the friend, lawsuit went nowhere but friend's kids couldn't play outside without the lunatic neighbor screaming obscenities. So they moved.

OP here. Will check in again Tuesday. Its not me. My friends (2) are in a neighborhood of mostly knockdowns and the owners of old houses are not happy with the owners of the new houses.

Some being built, some already built. Fights being picked in the neighborhood (these are grown adults) that don't really make sense otherwise. Similar to PP, old neighbors complaining about everything and anything, really irrational. Slander, libel, vandalism, harassment, stalking, and other charges involved. My friends have first class litigation lawyers, so are not concerned with legal advice. They have won cases to date, which has just made the old neighbors more upset with their own lives (if that is possible).

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this or if it is just the area. Was it like these cases or different? What happened?

It seems to me, as PP said, they will have a nice, young successful couple move in next door (in the new houses) no matter what. Generally, I don't know of any UNsuccessful people that live in the new houses (!!!), so what do they expect? If it were me, I would issue a restraining order. But its not, so they are lucky. I haven't asked about the other charges, but it seems they have it under control.

I was wondering if this is a common occurrence. It seems so outrageous that grown adults would be so UNhappy in their own lives as to do such a thing. I know my friends are too busy to move in the near future, and probably not as outraged as I am about it (just listening to the story!).

Had a similar situation next door: loud parties, fights in the street, drug use on the deck, and eventually dealing out of the house, all by the owner's nephew and friends who lived with him while going to school. We didn't try to get the owner to move, but we started calling the police on every single infraction so that the users/dealers eventually got the message that this was not a good spot to set up shop.
