Clydes in Friendship heights is very kid friendly and has lots of tables. Technically in MD, but just over the line.

Crios on P btw 21 & 22. Sister of Scion which is always overflowing. Red line to Dupont Circle. We take our one yr old all the time.

But I would strongly recommend a reservation. At least look on opentable and make sure they aren't booked before heading there.
