power was out for 5 and a half hours, I never opened the fridge.. we have milk, eggs, yogurt, raw meat and cooked meat (rotiss chicken, leftovers, etc.) Whaddya think? All the food safety websites of course say 4 hours tops. I gotta think 5.5 is ok, especially since I never opened the fridge, right? Always happens after a grocery run, grrr.

Totally fine
Totally agree. |
Our power was out for 12 hours over the weekend, and we've been eating out of the fridge and freezer (never opened while the power was out) since then with no ill effects. I would have discarded raw chicken or fish after 12 hours, but you should be just fine.
fine
As long as you never opened it, fine.
It's fine. My apartment complex is about to shut off power for 8 hours -- 10pm til 6am -- and they say as long as we keep it closed, food will be fine.
Most of it would have been fine if it had sat on the countertop for 5.5 hours. In an unopened fridge? I try not to be TOO mean on here, but seriously, woman. SMH
fine, esp if it was relatively full. Thermal mass of objects keeps it cold, if it were a bachelor's fridge, the 3 items in it would be somewhat iffier...
