Does anyone not do their eyebrows?

Anonymous
I am not a very hairy person, and neither is my daughter. We have moderately thick eyebrows. No unibrow or Andy Rooney eyebrows. My daughter plucks a few random hairs every now and then. I am afraid to touch my mine. My mom overplucked and now has crazy drawn-on eyebrows (she has no eyebrow hairs left). I always caution my daughter to not overdo the plucking. But I feel like some sort of anomaly because it seems that everyone goes and gets their eyebrows waxed, threaded, etc. I imagine if I went to a salon they would be happy to work on them. But I honestly don't think I need it - they look fine. Anyone else here also leave their eyebrows alone? I start to get paranoid and think that if I am not doing anything to them, then maybe I do look bad and just do not realize it! Am I right that over plucking, threading, and waxing will lead to those hairs never growing bacK?

I have fairly heavy eyebrows and don't do more than pluck a few stray hairs myself. I would look silly with thin eyebrows...I am an olive-skinned brunette and the heavy brows balance out my features. If you have very little, I think it is silly to do much to them.

I over tweezed my brows in my early 20's (I'm 34) to the point where I am not sad that I lost all of my pics from then in a move. Now I just tweeze a few hairs to maintain shape. I'm so paranoid I agonize over every hair.

But whatever. Strong brows are in now. And even if they weren't, as long as you're maintaining a shape that works for you, who cares?

I have a friend who is gorgeous, except she doesn't shape her eyebrows. I want to say something. She would honestly go from pretty to stunning if she just did that.

I had them done for about a year of my life, but I didn't notice the difference at all, so I stopped.

I did not do mine for a long time. Then I noticed that everyone else was doing theirs. I now get them shaped just a bit (waxed), and I occasionally pluck a few hairs myself. But, honestly, I never had anyone ever say anything to me about them in all the years that I did not get them done. (except the women in the salon, who were trying to drum up additional business!)

I did in my 20s but don't really do it anymore. Every time I did it, the eyebrow stylist would say to me, "But you don't even need it! Your eyebrows are perfect!" Now, mind you, I don't think my eyebrows are *perfect*, but it's just something that isn't that bad on me so I focus my time and attention to the other parts of my body, which CLEARLY need more help!

It depends. If you have extra thick unibrow, then go for it! If not, be careful.

It had never occurred to me to do anything to my eyebrows.

I used to, but at 52 I have stopped because I don't want to thin my eyebrows any more than necessary and besides, wax has an adverse effect on skin elasticity. I pluck a little here and there.

Do not do a thing to my brows. Not too bushy but definitely there. Late 3Os. Used to shape them but it makes you look older (thinner yes but also older!).

Never done anything to them, they are thick and dark and fit in with my face and hair. I have it bad enough with hair on my upper lip to worry about them!

I've only done an eyebrow wax once years ago. It didn't look that different, and frankly, it was too much work to maintain it.

I am vain about my eyebrows. I like them just the way they are. And my face shows expressions since they aren't plucked.

Not that plucked eyebrows don't look good on other people. They do. But it's just not for me.

I think if you go to someone who's really skilled, a brow wax will take years off your appearance and will highlight the beauty of your eyes. I don't understand the comments above about groomed brows making you look older or somehow making it difficult for your face to show expressions. (That's excessive Botox, right?) Look at any makeover feature in a magazine, or on TV-- brow grooming is always a key component.

I did threading and plucking for years. They used to be very think and unruly. They are shaped great now and I haven't threaded in over a year. It just doesn't grow like it used to.
