I think overall it would be very positive, except that I can't cook as well as she does  . DH's family is just thankful I married DH, the black sheep of the family, and set him on the straight and narrow. My MIL has always been supportive.
Now if it were my mother... she would have some choice words, no doubt. |

I am controlling.
I should be out working, rather than being a SAHM. I am boring and do nothing all day. I am a snob and do not understand what it is like to work for a living. I stole her perfect Golden Child away from her. I keep her at a distance. I am not at all like she thought I would be. We have nothing in common. |

| Nothing. Mine treats her son like an adult and has always been nothing but kind and respectful toward me. Now, my own mother... that's another story. |

Same as PP except I'm a WOHM and she thinks I should be a SAHM. |

| She would probably say I've done a great job with the kids, and that I've pulled together her mess of a son. She'd also say I'm too weird, cold, and selfish, and that she wants to trade me in for someone from her country and traditions. |

| That she's a little thrown by how cold I am, but she's getting used to it and I'm warming up. That she's sad I moved across the country and thus moved her baby boy (her grown son) across the country to be with me. That she tries very hard to not step on my toes while still being warm to me and hopes I realize that (I do). |

Am I the only one that loves and gets along with her mother-in-law? I hope she would say that she loves me like a daughter, that I make her son happy, and that I am a great mom to her grandkids.

| Mine would say that I am a great mom, but that I am sponging off her son (I can't find a job). She would say that I am not the right person for her son, that I am too hard to read, too intellectual, skinny but not skinny enough, not fun enough. That my house is not clean enough. That I need to start kicking in some funds around here (I agree with her on that). |

She would say that I am smart and a good wife and a good mother. And then she would shut up, because she's smart enough not to say any more!
(though, actually, anything negative that she would say would be pretty minor. we have a very good relationship) |
