Please, Jeff, inquiring minds want to know! |
i'm not sure which horrific news story links to which you are referring.
|
You haven't noticed any of the posts, Jeff?
Almost daily, sometimes multiple times, someone links horrific news stories about things like "Baby eaten by wild herd of pit bulls" or "Grandma gang raped by her six year old grandson and playgroup" The title of the posts always included some type of disclaimer like tragic story, cried for days, or do not open this post if you get sick easily. Surely the same person. They post here so frequently. |
OP....who cares? |
She is curious. I am too. I am sure we aren't the only ones who noticed. It is kind of morbidly hilarious yet strange and pathetic to think of some poor person paralized by fear because of all the time she spends on the internet, and her only therapy is to continually post these links on DCUM. |
You're the only one who wants to know. Why the personal vendetta? Are you going to petition to get her banned? What if it is multiple people? |
What if she just wants to have a conversation like the post about tge guy recently charged with murder? Or the person who posted in the political forum about the doctor who performs late term abortions? I don't understand the jump to the poster is paralyzed by fear |
+1 |
I actually appreciate the news stories. I like to know what is going on in the world. Doesn't make me sick or depraved. If I don't want to read it, I don't. I have found news on this message board that I would never have found myself. It is part of what makes this place so great. And 95% of the time the person that posts them is very careful to warn us that is is horrific. I don't live in a bubble and pretend that unicorns and rainbows are all there is out in that great big world. Grow up, and stop clicking on everything, and quit trying to regulate. |
You really need to get out more. |
I'm curious too. |
I'd also like to know. It would be better n'etiquette to include a warning on the thread title like "tragic incident in Britain - sensitive topic" then if I open the thread, I have only self to blame. But yeah, I can't really "not look at" the thread about the baby eaten by a pitbull when that's the subject line.
I don't think it is usually someone who wants to have a conversation. I think it is low gossip type stuff. Group rubbernecking, and tragedy porn. |
I would like to know too. Lately it has become too often. |
I find this sudden hand wringing over this issue to be very odd.
I once posted such a news story, about Leila Fowlers brother killing her. I did not do it because I was interested in "horror porn" or whatever ridiculous name you want to call it, but because I thought it was a crazy situation and wanted to talk it over with other people. I am actuallly wondering if it is just one person suddenly raising the huge hooplah now about these posts. |
I agree with you. The sudden raised stink over posting stories in the news is stranger. We're all adults, and should be able to either handle reading about a possible tragedy, or not click within. |
